Man Struck in July 5th Crash Has Passed Away

LANDOVER, MD – A 53-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle in Palmer Park on July 5th has died from his injuries, police report.

According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, 53-year-old Jackie Monroe of Hyattsville passed away this week.

Last Monday, at approximately 10:40 pm, patrol officers were called to the 8000 block of Barlowe Road for a collision involving a pedestrian. Once on scene, they discovered Monroe in the roadway. Monroe was taken to a hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on July 9th

“The preliminary investigation revealed, Monroe was in the roadway, attempting to cross the street, when he was struck by a car heading westbound on Barlowe Road. Monroe was not in a crosswalk at the time. The driver remained on the scene following the collision,” police said.
