Newark Police Seeking Woman Wanted for Questioning in Carjacking

NEWARK, NJ – Do you know Newark resident Chanel Davis? If so, the Newark Police Department would like to speak to her regarding a carjacking that took place in the city on Sunday.

“Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara requests the public’s help with locating Chanel Davis, 38, of Newark, who is wanted for questioning about a carjacking that occurred on June 19, 2022,” the Newark Police Department said.

On Sunday, police responded to reports of a carjacking in progress that occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Sherman Avenue.

“The victim pulled over, exiting his vehicle to inspect it when he heard a strange sound underneath his car. As he was inspecting his vehicle, a Black male suspect jumped into the car and drove off, causing the victim to injure his leg and arm,” police said. “Two additional suspects got in the carjacked vehicle after they exited another vehicle that was registered to Davis.”

Davis is described as 5’7’ and 160 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
