84-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck While Crossing Road in Bethesda Has Died

Gaithersburg, MD – Police reported a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Rockledge Drive in Bethesda and has succumbed to her injuries.

According to police, at approximately 11:20 a.m., on Friday, May 6, the operator of a blue 2005 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Rockledge Drive approaching Democracy Boulevard. The operator struck a pedestrian in the southbound lanes as the pedestrian attempted to cross from the median separating the north and south travel lanes of Rockledge Drive.

“The operator of the Honda and several witnesses stopped and rendered aid. The pedestrian, 84-year-old Carole Barbara Weiss, was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on May 17,” police said.

The initial investigation by the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) has revealed the pedestrian crossed to the center median, toward the western side of Rockledge Drive, and entered the southbound lanes of Rockledge Drive, where she was struck.
