Two Guns Recovered, Four Arrested After Armed Robbery in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, NY – Police in Syracuse have arrested four people and found guns, drugs and prescription pills during a search after a reported armed robbery.

Syracuse police said on Tuesday, at around 7:46 P.M., officers responded to the 100 block of Second North Street for a robbery complaint. A victim called 911 and relayed that he was being threatened with handguns in an attempt to rob him.

“Upon arrival, officers observed the victim, male, 33, running towards them with a suspect, Nautica Shephard, 23, following. The victim pointed at two other male suspects, Ja’khari Meridy, 21, and Trejonn Greene, 21, and stated that they had guns. Officer Ternosky, who responded to the call, noticed the suspects and observed that they were possibly concealing a weapon on their persons. The two suspects then rushed into a blue 2013 Nissan Murano with tinted windows that was close by. The suspects entered the vehicle and closed all the doors,” the department said.

The department said after ignoring officers’ requests to exit the vehicle, they finally emerged without incident.

“Officer Blazey, who also responded to the call, and Officer Ternosky gave several commands for the suspects to exit the vehicle. The commands were ignored. After a few minutes, the two male suspects emerged from the Murano, as well as a third male suspect, Keelan Mclaurin, 18, who had previously been in the car, exited as well. All of the involved suspects were detained,” the department said. “A search of the vehicle was conducted. As a result of that search, two handguns were located, a Glock, model 22, .40 caliber handgun with two magazines that were loaded with live rounds and a loaded semi-automatic Glock 26, 9mm firearm. The firearm contained 25 live rounds with 1 round in the chamber.”

Police reported as a result of the evidence collected during their investigation Shephard, Greene and Meridy were all charged with Robbery in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. McLaurin was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
