60-Year-Old Killed in Gaithersburg Crash

GAITHERSBURG, MD – Police today reported that a 60-year-old Laytonsville, Maryland woman has died following during a collision in Gaithersburg on Friday.

According to police, at approximately 12:28 p.m., Montgomery County Police Department officers and Montgomery County Fire-Rescue, responded to Woodfield Road between Watkins Road and Deanna Drive for the report of a single-vehicle collision.

“The initial investigation has revealed that a silver, 2006 Dodge Magnum was traveling northbound on Woodfield Road when the operator lost control of the vehicle,” MCPD said ina statement. “The vehicle struck several fence posts on the right side of the northbound travel lane before crossing over the southbound lane, leaving the road, and rolling over into a field area. During the roll over, the driver was ejected from the vehicle.”

Police reported the operator was transported to an area hospital with a serious injury. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries several hours later.
