Two Arrested in Stolen Vehicle After Police Pursuit

SYRACUSE, NY – Two people were arrested after fleeing police in a stolen vehicle, the Syracuse Police Department said today.

“On Monday, April 4th, 2022, at around 12:45 A.M., Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Arnts Place for a stolen vehicle complaint. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the victim, 42, female, who reported her vehicle, a 2014 Honda, stolen out of her driveway. Suspect and vehicle location information was limited,” the department reported.

Later that day, at around 11:17 P.M., officers were patrolling in the area of the 200 block of Colvin Street when they observed the stolen vehicle.

“Officers tried stopping the vehicle, but the driver refused. A brief pursuit then ensued. The chase went on for several minutes, and at one point, a Sheriff’s unit deployed stopped sticks near the intersection of Howlett Hill Road and Cedarvale Road,” the department said. “The vehicle ended up stopping in the 3500 block of Cedarville Road. The driver of the vehicle, Omar Musa, 18, and the passenger, Taijiana Ford, 18, were taken into custody.”

Musa was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and other related charges.

Musa was released on an appearance ticket. Ford was arrested and charged with the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the third degree​ and released on an appearance ticket.
