PAW PAW, MI – A White Pidgeon man arrested for running over an elderly female jogger last fall is now facing murder charges after it was alleged that he intentionally ran the woman over for the purpose of having sex with her corpse.
Colby Martin, 29, had previously been facing charges of manslaughter and failure to stop at the scene of a fatal crash, along with a charge for attempting to conceal the body. At the time in late September, Colby was suspected simply of trying to dispose of the body in a secluded area of St. Joseph County, now he’s facing a new murder charge.
His victim was 64-year-old Melody Rohrer, of Hamilton Township.
After processing DNA evidence and Martin’s internet search history, the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office filed the new charge.
WWMT Channel 3 reported, “During Wednesday’s arraignment, Van Buren County District Court Judge Michael McKay said probable cause was established for open murder since the evidence showed Martin intentionally struck the woman, took her body, and engaged in sexual acts with the body.”
