RONKONKOMA, NY – A New York State corrections officer is in jail after pretending to be something he’s not…a cop. David Olivari, 37, of Coram, was arrested after he impersonated a police officer on two occasions last month.
A woman reported to police that a man driving a vehicle equipped with flashing lights stopped her vehicle on Express Drive South in Ronkonkoma on January 22. The man, acting as if he was a police officer, took the woman’s cell phone, acquired her number from the phone, and returned it to her. Ten minutes later, he contacted the woman and requested she send nude photos. A similar complaint was made by a second woman who was driving on Shenandoah Boulevard in Nesconset on January 23.
The man arranged to meet one of the women on February 8 and was arrested. At the time of his arrest, Olivari was driving a gray 2007 Toyota Prius with dashboard-mounted flashing lights and is believed to be the same one used during the above incidents.
If you believe you’ve been a victim of Olivari, call Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
