Paterson woman charged with DWI, child endangerment after motor vehicle crash

OAKLAND, NJ – On Saturday, January 29, 2022, Officer Matthew Lopez responded to Skyline Drive on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a white Honda CRV and a black Ram pickup truck.

After an on-scene investigation, it was discovered that the Ram truck was making a U-turn and was struck by the CRV. The driver of the CRV, a 39-year-old female resident of Paterson underwent field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

She provided Officers with false pedigree information and had also been operating the vehicle with a juvenile passenger. A third passenger of the CRV received a minor neck injury however declined medical attention. The female driver was charged with Assault by Auto, Hindering, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated, and Refusal to Provide Breath Samples, as well as other traffic violations. In addition to these charges, an arrest warrant was located out of Hackensack. She was subsequently charged and transported to Bergen County Jail. Officer Jonathan Coleman and Sergeant Keith Docwra assisted with the investigation.

Oakland Police did not release the name of the driver.
