Paterson driver ambushed by hail of gunfire from another car

PATERSON, NJ – A 21-year-old Paterson resident was shot while driving his car by occupants of another vehicle pulled beside him and began shooting.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announce that at approximately 5:42 p.m. on January 30, 2022, members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Summer Street and Cedar Street in Paterson, New Jersey after a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, police located a potential crime scene, but no victim was located.

A short time later, members of the Paterson Police Department were notified that a 21-year-old male Paterson resident had arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey seeking treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound. Based on the preliminary investigation, the victim was an occupant of a motor vehicle traveling in the area of Summer Street and Cedar Street when a person in another vehicle began shooting. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
