Verbal Altercation leads to Shooting in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Saturday, January 1, 2022, in the 1300 block of First Street, Northeast.

At approximately 8:27 pm, the suspect and victim were engaged in a verbal altercation at the listed location. The suspect brandished a handgun and shot the victim. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A person of interest was captured by a nearby surveillance camera.
