PENNSAUKEN, NJ – On Friday, December 17th, 2021, at approximately 1720 hours, Pennsauken Police Department responded to the 6300 block of Westfield Ave between Cove Rd and Penn St., for a report of a pedestrian hit and run motor vehicle collision. The pedestrian, Mayra Polanco, Age 47, of the 6300 block of Westfield Ave, suffered significant bodily injury as a result of the collision and is listed in extremely critical condition in Cooper Hospital. Polanco was struck southbound on Westfield Ave. while crossing the street.The driver of the striking vehicle struck Polanco, failed to stop, and fled on Westfield Ave southbound before making a left turn eastbound onto Horner Ave. There were several witnesses and video surveillance camera systems that captured the suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle is described as a silver or light blue in color minivan, possibly a Honda Odyssey. The vehicle appears to be a 2005-2010 model year. The vehicle sustained damage to the front end of the vehicle, passenger side light assembly, and front windshield.
