On August 15, 2021, the Bethel Park Police Department responded to a report of a statutory sexual assault wherein 20-year-old Nathan Daniel Beck was alleged to have engaged in sexual acts with a 15-year-old female inside a Bethel Park residence. The assault was reported by the victim’s father who is a witness in the case. Beck was a volunteer firefighter for the City of Duquesne and a friend of the City of Duquesne’s Police Chief, Thomas Dunlevy.

On October 19, 2021, the victim’s father reported to the Bethel Park Police Department that the Duquesne Police Chief Thomas Dunlevy had just come to see him at his workplace in Hazelwood. Dunlevy confronted the victim’s father with information that would come out during Beck’s trial that would result in a negative contact with the county’s Office of Children, Youth, and Families (CYF).

On October 22, 2021, the Bethel Park Police Department requested the assistance of the Allegheny County Police Department to investigate Dunlevy’s actions. An investigation was conducted and a warrant obtained for Dunlevy’s arrest on December 8, 2021 following consultation with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office. Dunlevy was charged with intimidation of witnesses or victims, intimidation, retaliation or obstruction in child abuse cases, obstructing administration of law or other governmental function, and official oppression.

Dunlevy turned himself into authorities on December 8, 2021 and is currently awaiting arraignment.
