Brick police make arrests in October cocaine, heroin operation

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Brick Police Street Crimes Unit made multiple arrests during the last two weeks of October, resulting in several charges for possession and distribution of illegal drugs.

Monday night, October 18th, at 11:00 P.M., SCU Detectives observed suspicious activity at the Exxon on Drum Point Rd. Detectives stopped Desiree DeMartino (30 years old from Point Pleasant) for motor vehicle infractions and investigation led to the discovery of heroin, cocaine, crack and prescription pills. DeMartino was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of heroin, crack, cocaine, methadone, Alprazolam, a hypodermic syringe, and drug paraphernalia. Those charges were issued on a warrant and DeMartin was lodged in Ocean County Jail.

Tuesday evening, October 19th, at 7:00 P.M., SCU Detectives stopped a vehicle after observing motor vehicle infractions and suspicious activity in the Walgreens parking lot on Rt. 88. The stop led to the discovery of heroin.

The passengers, Jason Lasry (42 years old from Metuchen) and Ryan Chapman (40 years old from Howell) were charged with possession of heroin and paraphernalia. Lasry was released on a summons, and Chapman was charged on a warrant and transported to Ocean County Jail where a prisoner search revealed a quantity of crack on his person.

Wednesday afternoon, October 20th, at 5:30 P.M., Detectives observed a drug transaction and stopped Jamell White (27 years old from Brick). White was charged with distribution of crack, possession of crack and paraphernalia. White was released on a summons.

Friday morning, October 22nd, at 11:30 A.M., Detectives observed Albert Palmieri III (36 years old from Toms River) shoplifting at the Wawa located at 116 Brick Blvd. The stop and arrest of Palmieri led to further investigation of Palmieri’s cohorts, Hector Hernandez (33 years old from Seaside Heights) and Melissa Scheller (38 years old from Toms River). That investigation turned up heroin and paraphernalia.

Palmieri was charged with distribution of heroin, possession of heroin and paraphernalia, and shoplifting. Hernandez was charged with distribution of heroin, possession of heroin and paraphernalia. Their charges were issued on a warrant and both subjects were lodged in Ocean County Jail. Scheller was charged with possession of heroin and paraphernalia, and released on a summons.
