BALTIMORE, MD – As the weather cools and Baltimore residents, like many across America battle rising energy costs, many people want to just open the windows and let Mother Nature do her work.

Police in the city are advising residents not to leave their windows open as the city, also like many others across the country are grappling with fighting crime.

“As the weather gets cooler more people are leaving their windows open to take advantage of the colder temperatures, and saving money on AC costs. Unsecured windows and doors have led to more burglaries and thefts. We urge all residents to make sure their windows and doors are secured when out of the home, and to cover open windows with blinds or shades,” the department said.
