White House says if Fauci, CDC cancels Christmas gatherings it will abide

Last week, Dr. Anthony Fauci hinted that a Christmas lockdown is possible depending upon the spread of the COVID-19 virus among both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated.

As for Joe Biden and the White House, Press Secretary Jen Psaki didn’t say whether or not the administration would push back if the CDC and Fauci reimplemented gathering restrictions this Christmas.

“The president relies on CDC guidelines, uh, and they have not changed their guidelines about who can gather together,” Psaki said. “Those who are vaccinated, but we leave it to them if they need to change their guidelines based on where the pandemic sits.”

Fauci later reversed his comments, saying he was misinterpreted.

“I will be spending Christmas with my family,” Fauci said. “I encourage people, particularly the vaccinated people who are protected, to have a good, normal Christmas with your family.”
