Facebook’s suite of social media apps, Facebook, Instagram and What’s App all went offline at about noon on Monday.
The three apps, owned by Zuckerberg and Facebook stopped responding, giving users error messages. Facebook has not issued a statement in response to the downtime. No scheduled downtime messages were issued by the company.
Update: at 12:25 pm ET, Facebook issued the following statement, “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
The outage comes after a former Facebook employee claims the company puts profits over safety and security.
