Fair Lawn art teacher had sexual relationship, gave student drugs prosecutor says

FAIR LAWN, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CHRISTINE E. KNUDSEN (DOB: 11/17/1976; separated; high school teacher) of 18 A Townley Road, Fair Lawn, NJ. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels.


On Wednesday, September 14, 2021, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was notified by the Institutional Abuse Investigation Unit of the New Jersey Department of Children and Family that they received information that CHRISTINE E. KNUDSEN, a high school graphic arts teacher, had engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student at the school where she is employed.

An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fair Lawn Police Department revealed that KNUDSEN engaged in sexual activity with the student as well as providing and ingesting controlled dangerous substances with the student.

Based on the investigation, on Thursday, September 16, 2021, CHRISTINE E. KNUDSEN was charged by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office with one count of second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(3); one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1); and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2). KNUDSEN was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack pending her first appearance.
