JERSEY CITY, NJ – A Jersey City man has been arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at his Arlington Avenue home.
According to prosecutors, on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at approximately 10:50 a.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Steffon Fowler, age 24, of Jersey City, on charges involving the sexual assault of a 13-year-old female victim at his residence on Arlington Avenue in Jersey City. He was arrested without incident after surrendering himself at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City.
On January 17, 2021, members of the SVU were notified by the Jersey City Police Department about an alleged sexual assault of a Montclair girl by a man she met on social media. Fowler was later identified and arrested following an investigation by the SVU.
Fowler has been charged with one count of Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(4), a second-degree crime; one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a third-degree crime; and one count of Criminal Sexual Contact in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b, a fourth-degree crime.
After his arrest, Fowler was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first appearance.
