COLUMBUS, OH – Mommy shot me! A 5-year-old boy was accidentally shot by his drunk mom police in Columbus are saying.
On July 16, 2021 at 5:08pm, a 5-year-old male was brought into Nationwide Children’s Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound that went through both knees. CPD Special duty notified CPD Radio who dispatched Columbus Police Patrol officers to the 1000 block of Seymour Ave. to secure the location of the incident. Detectives determined that the 5-year-old was lying on the couch next to his mother (Suspect), 30-year-old Trenise B Turner.
Turner, who was intoxicated, was pointing her handgun at several adults in the home and making threats.
As she was putting the handgun back in her purse, she fired a shot, striking her son in the legs. The 5-year-old was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital by family and is in stable condition waiting for corrective surgery. Turner was charged with the felony Endangering of Children and transported to the Franklin County Jail.
