Biden says socialism, communism are failed systems

Last Thursday, President Joe Biden made a comment that might put him in the dog house with many of his Democrats in Washington after speaking out against the failures of socialism and communism. When speaking about the recent civil unrest in Cuba as tens of thousands of Cuban citizens take to the street to protest the nation’s communist and socialist dictatorship, Biden joined the chorus.

“Communism is a failed system, universally failed system. I don’t see socialism as a very useful substitute. But that’s another story,” Biden said.

Biden made the remarks in front of German Chancellor Angela Merkel who was born in raised in Communist East Germany in 1954. She was a member of the communist party in her younger years, but later was a key figure in the nation’s pro-democratic transformation.

Biden did not address the attrocities being committed against the Cuban protesters.
