Watch: Ohio police chief retires after leaving Ku Klux Klan sign on black officer's uniform

SHEFFIELD LAKE, OH – Sheffield Lake Police Chief Anthony Campo, a white male resigned Tuesday after he left a Ku Klux Klan sign on the police uniform of a black officer under his command. The incident happened on Friday. Now, Campo is saying it was just an office prank because the yellow hooded outfit resembled a KKK outfit.

“He thought this was just a joke,” Sheffield Mayor Dennis Bring said. “How can you possibly think that you can put something on somebody’s jacket like that, and especially if they were African American, and think this is a joke? This is the most egregious and offensive thing you could possibly do. And it’s embarrassing and disgusting.”
