One dead, seven injured in Paterson crash

PATERSON, NJ – Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announce that at approximately 2:02 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, police responded to Route 19 South near mile marker 2.4 in the City of Paterson in response to a report of a motor vehicle accident.

Upon their arrival on scene, Officers discovered that a 2015 Kia Optima, operated by a 61- year old man from Clifton, New Jersey, collided with a 2017 Toyota Rav 4, operated by a 36-year old woman from Newark, New Jersey. At the time of the crash, the 2015 Kia Optima was occupied by the driver and three other individuals.

One of the passengers, Marisol Stover, 43-years old, from Clifton, New Jersey, was pronounced deceased at the scene at 2:11 p.m. The driver and the two other passengers, a 49-year old female and a 16-year old male, both from Clifton, New Jersey, were all transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey where they received treatment for minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the 2017 Toyota Rav 4 was occupied by the driver and three other individuals: a 38-year old male, and two children, all from Newark, New Jersey. All four were transported to Saint Joseph’s and received treatment for minor injuries. Both drivers remained on the scene and had valid driver’s licenses. No charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
