ALBANY, NY – A man stopped to ask a woman for directions and as she walked up to his car to show him how to get to his destination, he showed her something else.
Albany Police say a 33-year-old Albany man has been charged with several incidents of public lewdness following complaints Thursday morning.
At around 7:45 a.m., officers responded to the area of Holland Avenue and Cornell Drive for reports of a man exposing himself. Officers learned that a man driving a car had approached a woman walking nearby and asked her for directions. As the woman approached the man’s car, the man exposed himself and began to masturbate before fleeing.
Shortly after the call, the suspect drove over to Hackett Boulevard near St. James Place and again asked a woman for directions. Similar to the previous incident, the suspect exposed himself and began to masturbate.
The suspect then proceeded to the area of New Scotland Avenue and Academy Road where during two separate incidents, exposed himself and masturbated after asking women for directions.
Eventually police caught up with the drive-by wanker and initiated a traffic stop.
A patrol officer responding to the incidents observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle traveling in the area of Morris and Ontario Streets. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and the driver failed to stop for a red light. The officer was able to stop the vehicle and take the suspect into custody on the 600 block of Park Avenue between Quail and Ontario Streets. A 33-year-old man, of Albany, was subsequently identified as the suspect in the four incidents of public lewdness and arrested.
