St. Petersburg, FL – Police in St. Petersburg say they found the suspect who was reportedly attempting to lure children into his car with candy. It turns out, it was a teenager just playing a joke, the department said.
On Thursday, May 13th, at 4:45 p.m., two boys ages 8 and 10, were bike riding near 18th Street and Iris Street North (in the Kiwanis park area) when a man in a pick-up truck approached them. He asked if they wanted candy and to “hop in”. The boys did not get in the truck and instead rode away quickly and informed adults. The children were not harmed.
The truck was described as an older dark green pick-up truck with a red tailgate. It had a red and silver emblem/sticker that says C or S 10. The suspect was described as a white man, age 25-35, with long brown hair and visible acne. Detectives would like to speak with him.
