ALBANY, NY – Albany police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred this morning on Central Avenue.’On Sunday, May 16, 2021 at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers responded to North Lake Avenue just north of Central Avenue for reports of shots fired.
Shortly after the call, staff from Albany Medical Center Hospital also notified police that a 33-year-old man entered their emergency room with gunshot wounds to the abdomen. Through the investigation, it was determined that the man was shot on the 200 block of Central Avenue just east of North Lake Avenue.
The victim is currently being treated at the hospital for what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries. At this time the investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Albany Police Detective Division at 518-462-8039.
