Man wanted for attempted murder in Bridgeville arrested at routine traffic stop

Bridgeville, DE- A Greenwood man is in jail after shooting another man in Bridgeville back in December.  Police have arrested a suspect wanted for that crime.

According to the Delaware State Police:

Delaware State Police arrested 38-year-old Kasandan Clanton of Greenwood for attempted murder and related charges.

On December 4, 2020, at approximately 10:15 a.m., troopers responded to Mill Park Drive, Bridgeville, for a reported shooting. Upon arrival troopers discovered a 47-year-old male victim was shot and drove himself to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Through investigative measures, Kasandan Clanton was determined to be the suspect in this incident, and an arrest warrant was obtained for attempted murder.

On March 10, 2021, Delaware State Police located and apprehended Clanton during a traffic stop as the vehicle he was a passenger in was traveling eastbound on SR 16. Clanton was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 5, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Attempt to Commit 1st Degree Murder (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Criminal Mischief under $1,000
  • Possession of Marijuana (Civil Violation)

He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $126,100.00 cash bond.
