Teen girl shot Friday in Columbus expected to recover, police say

COLUMBUS, OH – A 16-year-old girl walking along Lonsdale Road with her cousin on Friday night was shot in the shoulder and police said she is expected to recover from her injuries.

According to Columbus police, on February 5, 2021 at 10:26 pm, officers were dispatched to 1772 Woodcrest Rd. on the report of a shooting.

The 16-year-old victim stated that she and her cousin were walking in the area of Lonsdale Rd. and Lonsdale Place N. when she heard several gunshots. The victim stated that she began to run and she later realized that she had been shot in the shoulder.

An unknown male was walking nearby at the time and detectives believe that he was the intended target. The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive her injuries. This is an ongoing investigation.
