BOSTON, MA – At about 2:45 PM on Monday, December 28, 2020, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a larceny in progress in the area of 345 Harrison Avenue in the South End. As officers approached the scene, they observed a male being chased by several males on Mullins Way. Officers pursued the male to the parking lot of 348 Harrison Avenue where he was being held down by the males who were chasing him prior to officers’ arrival. Officers recognized the detained male from prior interactions. While in the parking lot with the first suspect, officers received information that a second suspect was stopped at the scene of the original call at 345 Harrison Avenue. Officers secured the first suspect who was arrested for multiple active warrants. During the booking process, officers recovered illegal drugs on the suspect’s person.
Additional officers who were at the scene of the initial call secured the second suspect, who was positively identified by witnesses. Officers spoke to the victim who stated he was approached by a concierge who notified him there were two males inside of the bicycle room with a pair of bolt cutters. The victim stated he approached the males who were attempting to access the bicycles inside of the locked room. A physical altercation between the suspects and the victim ensued in which the first suspect kicked the victim before fleeing the area.
Officers arrested the first suspect, Robert Glavin, 38-years-old, of Jamaica Plain and the second suspect, Matthew Douglas, 49-years-old, of Lynn. Both are charged with Breaking and Entering of a Building Daytime for Felony and Possession of Burglarious Tools. Additionally, Glavin is charged with Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Class A Drugs, Possession of Class B Drugs, Possession of Class E Drugs, and Receiving Stolen Property Under $1200.00. Glavin also had five outstanding warrants for various charges including Receiving Stolen Property, Larceny from a Building, and Armed Robbery. Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
