Athens County Police Botter - Dec. 7, 2020

ATHENS, OH – The following incidents were reported by the Athens County Sheriff’s Department for December 7, 2020.

Deputies took a report of identity theft, in reference to a female complainant. She advised she was receiving fraudulent debt collection letters. The victim wished for a report to be on file and no further actions were needed.

Deputies responded to McDougal RD, in Millfield, on a theft of batteries and a diesel exhaust. There was 8 to 9, group 65 batteries taken with yellow tops. A large Case battery was also taken. Two subjects parked a 4 door car on McDougal then exited on foot to the business removing the batteries and exhaust. These items were loaded in the car and the subjects left the area. Deputies responded to the Albany Storage Units, in reference to a customer advising that they had found a pill bottle in their boat that was stored. Upon Deputies arrival it was determined that the bottle and medication was old. Items were placed for destruction.

A well being check was requested on a female, in The Plains area, who has medical issues. Contact was made with the care taker who stated everything was fine. The deputy asked the care taker to call the agency who requested the check.

A male contacted the Sheriff’s Office, advising that he had a firearm stolen from his residence. This matter is under investigation.

Deputies spoke with a male, in regards to constant harassment from his landlord. The caller advised his landlord consistently drives by the residence, and takes photographs of the residence. The landlord has been told she must go through the proper eviction process through court to get the male out of the residence, to which at this point she has not done. This information was documented for further court appearances.

Deputies responded to Old US Route 33, in regards to an agency assist. Deputies patrolled the area for a vehicle belonging to a missing person out of Hocking County. Deputies did not locate the vehicle. No further action was taken.

Deputies responded to Ackley Road, in Coolville, in regards to an agency assist. Deputies assisted the Ohio State Patrol with a hit skip. No further action was taken.

Deputies responded to Glouster, in regards to a vehicle accident involving a deer. A neighbor requested a deer carcass receipt for what was left of the deer.

Deputies responded to The Plains, in regards to a prowler complaint. The caller advised he believed someone was shining a light in his window. Deputies patrolled the area but were unable to locate any suspicious people in the area. The light most likely came from a street light which was flickering.

Deputies responded to Alexander Township, for a noise complaint. The caller reported that the neighbors were playing loud music in addition to making loud construction sounds. Deputies patrolled the area and observed a small generator powering a camper, but heard no other unreasonable noise or criminal activity. No further action needed.
