ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office today said they have a suspect in custody after a woman found dead in her home by a family member last week. On December 2, 2020, at approximately 1:20 p.m., ACSO Deputies responded to 18303 NE CR 1471 after a family member found Annette A. Miller, 24, unresponsive inside her residence. With the assistance of the medical examiner a bullet wound was found on the victim’s body and found to be the cause of death.
During the initial investigation, deputies determined that the victim’s car was gone and possibly a handgun. A nationwide alert was issued for the vehicle being stolen. Detectives were able to identify a potential suspect and began to try to locate him.
The suspect, Brandon Martin, 31, was ultimately located in Franklin, North Carolina and taken into custody on two outstanding warrants from Bradford County (stolen vehicle & stolen firearm), unrelated to the Alachua County charges. He is currently being held at the Macon North Carolina Sheriff’s Office and has been charged with homicide in Alachua County and
Grand Theft. There is no bond on the Homicide warrant. He will be extradited back to face the charges.
