Police Officers Cheered Entering Bar, Now City Wants Investigation of EO Violations

A viral video shared by President Donald J. Trump shows four D.C. Metro police officers walking into Harry’s Bar being cheered and celebrated by patrons chanting “Back the Blue”.  It was a viral video that showed not all Americans want to defund the police and that many still support local police departments.  Now, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is launching an investigation into the video to determine if the bar was violating the city’s COVID-19 executive order that limits indoor seating capacity in bars and restaurants to 50% of maximum capacity.  Under D.C. law the fine for violating the city’s indoor capacity limit is a written warning, followed by a $1,000 fine.

The video was published by podcaster David J. Harris Jr.  Harris has over 615,000 followers on Twitter and is a Trump supporter.  At the end of the video, he approaches the officers to thank them personally, saying “That’s how we Trumpsters roll”.

The video caught the attention of President Donald J. Trump who also shared it on social media.  In July, Harry’s was issued a verbal warning for a previous social distancing violation.

“The matter has been assigned to our enforcement division for investigation,” said city spokesman Jared J. Powell. “At this time we don’t have the full context for this video.”
