Certain low-level offenders will be released from county jails to prevent the spread of coronavirus, according to Governor Phil Murphy today. Murphy did not say how many inmates will be processed out of the twenty-one county jails but said it will take place to limit the spread of COVID-19 among jail staff and population.
“I don’t know that there’s any other American state that has done this,” Murphy said. “I commend the attorney general for this.”
