Toms River to Vote on Ordinance to Allow for Budget Increase Over 2% Property Tax Cap

TOMS RIVER-Toms River Township Mayor Mo Hill and the Toms River council will be voting on an ordinance to exceed the 2% property tax cap mandated by former Governor Chris Christie.  Despite a warm winter that produced lower heating, fuel and snow removal costs, the township is still in need of more money, according to the resolution.

According to the township, it will need an additional $971,000 above the current 2% cap for the next year.

The council will vote on this ordinance on Tuesday, March 10th.   At that same meeting, the council will vote on salary increases and raises for confidential employees hired by Mayor Hill for 2020.
