Council Pre-Approved Apartment Project, Affordable Housing Development to be Heard November 29th

JACKSON-A hearing will be held on Wednesday, November 29th at 7pm regarding a high density, affordable housing project to be built between the crossroads of Whitesville Road, South Hope Chapel Road, and East Veterans Highway.

The project was initially approved to be a high density, affordable housing project by the township council by an unopposed ordinance earlier in the year in order to satisfy the demands of Council of Affordable Housing.    The builder now seeks a variance to nearly double the housing density.

The builder seeks to build six apartment buildings with 46 rental units and 184 homes built with a density of 1.46 units per acre throughout the 158 acre project.

Swanborne, LLC seeks to gain a variance since zoning currently requires 1-acre housing development.  They are seeking to increase the density by 50%.

The project, on the eastern side of Jackson, near the border with neighboring Lakewood Township would be the largest residential development complex in the southeastern corner of the township if built.

Landowners adjacent to the property will not receive notices prior to the meeting.  The application was originally scheduled to be heard this past September but was rescheduled.
