Last week the Berkeley Township Detective Bureau along with investigators from the Ocean County Prosecutors Office’s Major Crimes Unit responded to a Grenada Street address for a narcotics distribution investigation. This area is in the Holiday City/Silver Ridge retirement community of Berkeley Township.

Information gained from this investigation led to an additional operation in the neighborhood the following day. That’s when police observed a white Ford Explorer arrive to the scene, operated by a female – later identified as Veronica Gasmen, 46, of Lanoka Harbor.

Detectives stopped the vehicle and found Gasmen to be in possession of a quantity of heroin on her person. Further investigation led to the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics from Gasmen. This included over 1,000 individual doses of heroin as well as 15 vials of crack cocaine.
