Fire at Brick Elementary School Forces Closure, Early Release

BRICK-The Brick Township Police Department is notifying the community today about a fire that occurred this morning outside the Emma Havens Young School.

From the Brick Police:

Children from the Emma Havens School will be dismissed early at 11:00am. If your student normally takes the bus to and from school they will be taken to their normally used bus stop.
If you choose to pick up your child please respond to the Drum Point Sports Field near the home field bleachers to sign your child out.

For parents that are unable to pick up their children from the school or bus stop they will be transferred to the Police Athletic League (PAL) until a parent can pick them up.


Theere was a small fire outside the Emma Havens Young School this morning that was reported at 9:10 this morning. The children and staff have been moved to the Drum Point School and everyone is safe.

The power is out in the area and the students will be dismissed.

Any parents responding to the school should respond to the PAL building across the street from the school. We will provide updates as they become available.
