Party Republicans Split on Who Should Represent Second Congressional District

Atlantic City-Republicans across New Jersey’s southern counties can’t come to an agreement over who should represent the second district in this year’s vital congressional race to replace retiring Congressman Frank LoBiondo.

Last night, Robert Turkavage won the endorsement of the Cumberland County Republican Party.  Previously, counties have been split on their endorsements.

Hirsh Singh, a businessman from Linwood won the endorsements of Burlington and Ocean County.

Engineer Brian Fitzherbert secured the Gloucester County nomination.

James Toto got the Salem County Endorsement.

Finally, down in Cape May, Sam Fiocchi secured the party’s backing in Cape May County.

With five officially endorsed candidates, the Republican establishment has thus far passed over “Bikers for Trump” candidate Mark McGovern who has been making headlines in Ocean County after showing his support for two suspended Lacey Township students who were suspended for posting pictures of themselves during a weekend at the local gun range.

LoBiondo has held his seat since the mid-1990’s and Republicans throughout South Jersey did not come to a unified consensus, setting the stage for a critical primary election in June.

Although Singh has secured the Ocean County line, McGovern is winning the hearts and minds of the everyday voter this week.  McGovern is hoping to ride his horse straight through the establishment backed candidates in June.
