Jackson Man Who Took Teen to Ohio Charged by Police

TOMS RIVER-On October 13th the Toms River Police Departments Criminal Investigations Bureau and the New Jersey State Police Missing Persons Unit initiated an investigation related to a missing 13 year old Toms River girl.  The girl has been located unharmed in Ohio in the company of Jeffery Trautmann.

The following Information was obtained from public documents provided by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Public Affairs Unit.  On October 17th at 6:14 pm a Trooper stopped a 2000 Volkswagen in the Defiance County Township of Richland.  The operator, Jeffery Trautmann, age 19 from the 600 block of West Veterans Highway in Jackson New Jersey, was issued a summons for driving 76 mph in a 65 mph zone.  The Trooper determined that the vehicle and passenger were entered into the National Crime Information Center, NCIC, related to a missing juvenile incident.


Trautmann was additionally charged with interference with the custody of a child under 18, possession of marijuana, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He is being held on bail in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio pending a court appearance.

The Toms River Police Departments Criminal Investigation Bureau is working in Cooperation with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to determine if any additional charges will be filed against Trautmann.
