Dune Replenishment Project Begins in Ortley Beach

TOMS RIVER TOWNSHIP-The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to move south from Mantoloking and Brick to continue replenishing the beach and dunes along the Ocean County portion of the Jersey Shore this week.

“You have been able to see the project in action with hopper dredges taking sand from the borrow site a mile or so off our beach and bringing it to Normandy Beach and Brick lll Beach in Brick Township for the past few weeks,” said Bob Hopkins.

This week, work began in Ortley Beach as the project crawls southward along the barrier peninsula.

Photo – June 14- Beachfill construction is ongoing in Northern Ocean County, New Jersey. The dredge BE Lindholm, owned and operated by Weeks Marine Inc, is working in Brick Township, New Jersey. The 14-mile long dune and berm system is designed to reduce the risk of storm damages.
