A Family of Eagles in Jackson Township

Shore News Network

For the Eisenschmied Family of Jackson, NJ, the Eagle has landed – three times! This past Sunday, the youngest of the Eisenschmied trio of Eagle Scouts, Andrew, had his formal Eagle Scout Court of Honor. He follows in the footsteps of older brothers Matthew and Alex, who also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2011 and 2015, respectively. It is said that for every 100 boys that begin the scouting journey, only three make it to the pinnacle of Eagle Scout. In this family, they are batting 1,000!

The young men are part of Troop 82, Jersey Shore Council, and they attribute their accomplishment to a wonderful troop under the leadership of Mr. Brian McAllister as Troop 82 Scoutmaster, the supportive community in Jackson, and especially their parents, Martin and Margaret.

The ceremony was marked by the presence of a number of dignitaries, including Mr. Brian Morgan of the Jackson School District, Councilman Scott Martin of the Jackson Township Council, Lt. Sean Mehrlander and SFC. Sean Hybbeneth of the New Jersey State Police, and Mr. Jim Miller of the Grand Order of Masons of New Jersey.

For his Eagle Scout Project, Andrew collaborated with the Carl W. Goetz Middle School of the Jackson School District to construct a retaining wall and reconfigure the entrance area to the school. The project entailed securing the installation of the granite Goetz sign, clearing and leveling the area, laying out and building the Allan Block retaining wall to prevent water from running on to the main entrance sidewalk, and landscaping the area. He hopes that many will enjoy the beautiful, safe and updated entrance to the Goetz Middle School. The walkway will remain dry and safe for all visitors for years to come.
A 2016 graduate of Jackson Memorial High School, Andrew currently attends Rowan University’s Rohrer College of Business where he is majoring in Finance and Business Information Systems. He is in the Bantivoglio Honors Concentration, and earned Dean’s List for his first semester of college. Alex attends Rutgers University majoring in Physics, has made Dean’s List, and is in the SAS Honors Program. Matthew graduated from Rowan University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and from the Bantivoglio Honors Concentration, and works for a major pharmaceutical company in south Jersey. All three credit the life lessons learned on the trail to Eagle as a major contributor to their success in life so far. As the Boy Scouts know, there is no such thing as a former Eagle – once an Eagle, always an Eagle for life!
