Toms River 11u All Star Champs Honored at Town Hall

While most of New Jersey was focusing on the Holbrook 12u Little League All-Stars at the Little League World Series this summer, the Toms River Little League 11u all-stars quietly secured a state championship of their own.

The team was honored last night at town hall by the township council.

Next year, the team hopes to keep the New Jersey Little League championship in Ocean County and is the front-runner for next year’s District 18 championship.  If all goes according to the plan, it will be Toms River Little League representing New Jersey at next year’s Little League World Series.

The team is managed by Angelo Urso.   J.M. Gold, a former minor league baseball player, graduate of Toms River High School North and assistant coach for the Jackson Memorial High School baseball team also serves as coach on the team.

From 1998 to 2003, Gold played single a ball for the Milwaukee Brewers.  In his minor league career, his pitching record was 13-17 with a 4.93 era.

Mayor Thomas Kelaher and the council recognized Manager Angelo Urso, Coach J.M. Gold, Coach Larry DiChiara and Coach Richard LoAlbo and team members: Tony DiChiara, Brady Gold, Kade Kulpinski, Jonathan LoAlbo, Scott MacConnell, Roman Moyers, Kieran Mulholland, Gabriel Obeng, Jack Pesso, Elio Scarpa, Dominic Urso and Dylan Vowteras.
