Man Charged With Murder in Seaside Heights Motel Room

Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato announced the indictment of Matthew Joseph DeMartin, 37, of Seaside Heights in connection with the death of his roommate at their shared residence in the Glendale Motel located at 26 Lincoln Ave in Seaside Heights.  The indictment is attached.

The indictment stems from an investigation begun on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at approximately 11:19 am, when the Seaside Heights Police and local EMS responded to a 911 call at the Glendale Motel.  Upon their arrival, they found an unresponsive female, later identified as Sharon Falcetano, age 59, who was subsequently pronounced dead at 11:43 am at the scene.  The officers immediately secured the scene and contacted the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CIU to begin the investigation.

An autopsy conducted by the Ocean County Medical Examiner today determined that the victim suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries to her head and body. The manner of death was determined to be homicide.

The investigation was conducted by Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Seaside Heights Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigations Unit.


The case is being prosecuted Chief of Special Litigation Unit Anthony Pierro.  DeMartin remains incarcerated in the Ocean County Jail.
