Shore News Network

TOMS RIVER-Hours after an unsuccessful coup attempt by Mayor Maurice “Mo” Hill to oust Geri Ambrosio as the President of the Toms River Republican Club, Mo Hill struck back today.  Ambrosio’s husband Craig found out this morning that he was being demoted by Hill, who is also his boss at town hall.

Ambrosio is one of a few dozen people identified as “Confidential Employees” hired at-will by the mayor.   After winning his election, Assemblyman Gregory P. McGuckin sent an email to all of the town’s confidential employees that they would be screened by Hill if they wanted to keep their jobs in January.

Hill screened Ambrosio and kept his job intact.  Ambrosio serves as the Director of Parks and Grounds for the Township of Toms River.  He also helps out with Code Enforcement and is the township’s ADA coordinator.

The details of Ambrosio’s demotion are not clear at this time, we’ll update the story as it unfolds.
