Seaside Heights Kidnapper Finally Caught in Toms River

LACEY-On the night of June 12, 2018, police responded to a Caldwell Avenue, Forked River, home after a man reported being kidnapped. The victim was not on scene, and limited information was gathered at the scene.

Shortly after, the victim arrived at police headquarters explaining that he was assaulted and kidnapped while in Seaside Heights. The man apparently suffered extensive injuries including broken bones in his face and leg. The victim was reportedly assaulted by the attacker as he waited in a car for a female companion.

The suspect reportedly entered the vehicle striking the victim numerous times and then forcing him into his (suspect) vehicle.

The victim was continually assaulted as the suspect drove him to Forked River where he eventually escaped from the car.


The continued investigation led to charges being filed on Kevin Johnson, 52, East Main Street, Tuckerton.


On July 27, 2018, Kevin Johnson was located at a Toms River residence and arrested by members of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Marshals. Johnson was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in accordance with Bail Reform. His criminal charges included Kidnapping, Burglary, and Aggravated Assault.
