Surprise Takedown at Toms River Bus Terminal

by Your News

On Thursday the Ocean County Prosecutors Office arrested a Pittsgrove man for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old female in Manchester.

Dennis Myers, 36, was investigated following a report from the victim. She informed officers that she first met Myers via social media in September.

Detectives, with assistance from the Ocean County High Tech Crime Unit and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI, confirmed that Myers had begun communicating regularly with the victim.

The assault is alleged to have occurred during that first meeting, sometime in January.

As part of the investigation, police arranged another meeting with the suspect, who believed he was still communicating with the victim at the time.

On Thursday, instead of meeting up with the girl, Myers was met by Detectives Woodfield and Guker of the OCPO Special Victims Unit. That occurred at the bus terminal in Toms River.

Assistant Prosecutor Christine Lento approved charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Superior Court Judge Wendel Daniels set bail at $75,000 no 10% option for release.

A no-contact order was but in place, and Myers was remanded to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of bail.
